...And A Shot Of Good Booze

Mississippi John Hurt- The Immortal

Album Review:
"One of the best albums of country blues ever recorded. The fingerpicking is delicate, the vocals mellow and sweet. Many tunes that remain associated with Hurt are included here in versions that rival his legendary recordings from the late '20s. "Richland Woman Blues," "Stagolee," "The Chicken," and "Since I've Laid My Burden Down" sound as fresh as ever in these '60s versions. This album leaves little doubt as to why Hurt was so beloved after his rediscovery."

Is the link only for the 2nd half of the files? Don't get me wrong-- I'm grateful for ANY files, but just wanted to know.

All the files should be there. Can you download it again?

I have the same problem and am sorry to say that downloading the file again does not solve it.
The same thing happens with Disc 1 -"Today". Could you re-up both of them when you have the time please? Your blog is great and much appreciated!

I'm re-upping 'Today' now. Let me know if it works for you guys.

Thank you for trying. I'm afraid that track 10 remains broken and tracks 11 and 12 do not download at all for me. This is as it was before. This is a pity but please do not waste any more of your time on it.

I'm wondering if the problem might be related to the fact that these files are in FLAC form. Do you have a program that plays FLAC files (correctly)? How about using Easy CD-DA Extractor to convert the format of the files to mp3s? The program can be downloaded on

Thanks for the advice. I was wondering if flac. files might be the problem but was blaming their size. I do not usually have trouble with them and they play with Foobar. I will try your suggestion.

Thanks for all the great stuff!

I'm having problems with Immortal MJH, like bruce. The downloaded file "Disc 2 - The Immortal.rar" contains only tracks 05 to 09. Expansion with 7zip works fine. Tracks 05 to 08 play OK, but 09 is corrupt: most of Got the blues.., then the start of Stagolee, which would probably be continued in the 3rd download part. I would be very grateful if you could check and provide the missing links.
(btw, MJH Today is fine)
